Grammar - Sentence and Its parts (Forms of the Subject)

Forms of the Subject:

The subject of the sentence has several forms. the most frequent forms are Proper nouns, Pronouns, and Nouns.

=> The information in the disk.           => Marten Luther King was a charismatic leader.

=> Who is on third base?                    => Those Comments annoyed Paul.

Occasionally, large structures, such as Noun Clause, Gerund Phrases, and Infinitive Phrases, can function as the subject of a sentence. For convenience, Noun Pronouns, and these larger structures are called.

> What he said annoyed Paul. (Noun clause functioning as the subject)

> To collect every stamp issued by Morocco was his ambition. (Infinitive phrase functioning as the subject)

> Playing chess amused Jack. (Gerund phrase functioning as the subject).
