The deference between Present simple and Continuous 

Present simple and present continuous are the both verb tenses, the are used to talk about actions happening in the present ( currently), but also they have different uses.

Present simple is used for:

👉- General fact or truth: 

Exp : The sun rises in the east.

👉- Habit or routine: 

Exp : I drink tea every morning.

👉- Permanent situation: 

Exp : He lives in Tokyo.

Present continuous is used for:

👉- Action happening right now ( currently ): 

Exp : You are studying for your exam.

👉- Temporary situation: 

Exp : She is staying with us for the weekend.

👉- Future plan or arrangement:

Exp : We are going to the theater tonight.

🔔 Present simple is more about regular, repeated actions, while present continuous is for actions happening at the moment or in the near future.
